Robin Sherwood was born in Miami Beach, Florida. This girl was educated in London through an exchange program with Sarah Lawrence College in New York. Robin returned to The United States and graduated from Franconia College in New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Arts degree in the performing arts. Robin moved to Los Angeles and pursued a career as a film and television actress until 1984, where she moved to Paris and started writing.
Known to the cinema as the "charismatic beauty", Robin Lyn Sherwood was born in Miami Beach Florida to Wolfie (restaurateur) and Miriam (community activist) Cohen. As a child Sherwood showed the temperament of an original actress, by performing make-believe film roles for her family's enjoyment. However she decided to turn her ethereal nature to the ballet.
Tragedy struck early in her life when she was orphaned by the death of her mother at 11 years of age. Robin was subsequently raised by her father. And had only an older brother to relate to.
Without a mother to guide her, Sherwood learned about becoming a lady through watching movies, and reading classic romantic novels such as The Bronte Sister's books including Wuthering Heights. By being brought up in a household with all men and learning about life as a woman through her imagination, Sherwood gained unique and very feminine qualities which she would later draw on to create her acting roles.
